A rural oasis between Knoxville and Oak Ridge
Karns is an unincorporated community in northwest Knox County, actually located closer to Oak Ridge than downtown Knoxville.
It used to be primarily a farming community-- and while it's population has grown in recent years, you can still see acres of rolling fields and spots of undeveloped forest between the growing number of subdivisons. It's a popular area for people working in both cities who are looking for a quieter place to call home.
There are three county schools in the community, along with parks, grocery stores, fast food restaurants, and a few locally owned shops. It's a short drive to everything you need in either Knoxville or Oak Ridge.
